Viktor Axelsen triumphs both on - and off the court

On Sunday afternoon, Viktor Axelsen once again emphasized his unique position in the world elite by defeating Indonesian Ginting at the HSBC BWF Tour Finals in Bangkok.

In 2022, Axelsen played 54 matches, emerging victorious in 51 of them. This sends a clear signal to the world that he is one step ahead and hungry for more.

It's not just on the court that Viktor Axelsen performs at the highest level. He also shines in the commercial arena, as a new analysis by Above Sports concludes.

We are already looking forward to the new year, where I must say we expect these new insights to create further commercial opportunities for Viktor.

Viktor Axelsen's sponsorship value is estimated to be more than 30 times higher on a global scale compared to in Denmark - and therefore equivalent to a large three-digit million figure.

The estimate is even considered to be conservatively set, as perceived value - the so-called intangible values - are not included herein.

"Both Viktor and his team now have a completely different basis for valuing and optimizing their sponsor partnerships. I must also admit that we were pleasantly surprised when our analysis department presented us with the large figures, which express his commercial value," says Thomas Badura, founder of Above Sport.

"There are simply not many individual athletes here at home who can muster this impressive value," he adds.

Henrik Axelsen, father and manager of Viktor Axelsen, says: "I wish we had had the opportunities we have now five years ago, but we are happy with the gift we have today. Above Sports' platform provides us with ongoing insights and in-depth knowledge that would have been difficult to access earlier.

For us, it's a game changer for two reasons:

Firstly, we have access to global data, which has historically been difficult to obtain. And secondly, the data is made easily understandable because it's not just about collecting data, but equally about connecting all relevant information together - and on top of that, creating valuable insights - ready to be used for something very concrete, namely to develop the sport and take it to the level it deserves.

We are already looking forward to the new year, where I must say we expect these new insights to create further commercial opportunities for Viktor.

Finally, a truly serious and credible tool that we expect a lot from."
